Ryan Spaulding Signs With Sacramento Republic FC
The former Revs left back is heading to the west coast.
Former Revolution left back Ryan Spaulding has found a new home as the 26-year-old signed a contract with USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC on Tuesday.
Spaulding’s journey with the New England Revolution organization began on January 16, 2020, when he signed with Revolution II following stints with French side Stade Briochin and USL side North Carolina.
The Cary, North Carolina native appeared in 43 matches for Revolution II during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, where he tallied four goals and three assists over 3,496 minutes.
Following the 2021 USL League One Season, Spaulding ascended to the first team after inking an MLS contract on February 18th, 2022. During his three seasons with the first team, Spaulding appeared in 36 matches across all competitions and clocked 1,991 minutes.
Spaulding’s time in New England featured two loan spells with USL Championship side Tampa Bay. During his time with the Rowdies, Spaulding appeared in 14 matches for the Rowdies and tallied two goals and four assists over 1,184 minutes.
Spaulding will reconnect with a familiar face in Sacramento as he will play under recently hired head coach Neill Collins. 10 of Spaulding’s 14 appearances with the Rowdies came during Collins’ time in Tampa Bay.
Sacramento Republic President and General Manager Todd Dunivant called Ryan Spaulding a great addition to the club
“He’s bringing a wealth of experience across various levels of American soccer, and we’re confident he will be an excellent fit in Sacramento,” he added
Sacramento will begin their 2025 USL Championship season on Saturday, March 8, when they face New Mexico United. 2025 sees Spaulding return to New England twice when Sacramento hits the road to face Rhode Island FC on June 21 and Hartford Athletic on October 11.
Great spot for Spaulding, he's an excellent attacking player out wide at USL level.
Glad he has landed somewhere.
