Hearts of Pine Add MLS Veteran Coulibaly
The 29 year-old defender more than 50 appearances with LA Galaxy
The Portland Hearts of Pine bolstered their defense Tuesday by signing former LA Galaxy center back Séga Coulibaly.
The 29-year-old spent last season in the French third division with Chateauroux, making just one appearance with the first team. Before that, Coulibaly was a member of MLS side LA Galaxy, where he made 49 starts from 2021 to 2023. His 2023 season was cut short due to knee surgery, and he was released from the Galaxy shortly after.
Coulibaly was born in Mali but moved to France at age six. In time with the France U16 and U20 teams, he played alongside European stars Kingsley Coman and Serhou Guirassy, as well as Chicago Fire player Jonathan Bamba.
“I am really excited to join the club,” said Coulibaly. “It’s a new club, but there’s a lot of enthusiasm around it. My ambition is to help the club grow by doing great things on the pitch with my teammates, and I can’t wait to start this challenge.”
