Portland Hearts of Pine entered Wednesday's contest looking to rebound from a disappointing result against Westchester and put together one of its most complete performances of the season in a 5-1 victory.

Portland generated the match's first dangerous opportunity eight minutes in when Diogo Barbosa got on the end of a chance inside the box, forcing Richmond goalkeeper Yann Fillion into a sprawling save to keep the match scoreless. Barbosa's early pressure proved to be a sign of things to come.

Richmond nearly opened the scoring two minutes later. Nils Seufert unleashed a shot from just outside the penalty area that initially appeared routine for Hearts goalkeeper Hunter Morse. Morse had the ball lined up but let it slip through his hands, drawing a gasp from the sellout crowd of 6,213 at Fitzpatrick Stadium. He quickly recovered, pouncing on the rebound before Richmond forward Tarik Pannholzer could capitalize.

Portland broke through in the 19th minute. Konstantinos Georgallides delivered a ball into the area that Richmond headed back in front of goal, where Diego Gonzalez rose to head it into the upper-right corner beyond Fillion for a 1-0 lead. It was Gonzalez's second goal in three matches since joining Portland on loan from Houston Dynamo 2 of MLS NEXT Pro.

Portland's lead lasted just six minutes. A miscommunication in the Hearts back line left neither Kemali Green nor Serigne Faye able to clear the ball, allowing Richmond's Joshua Kirkland to collect the loose ball in the box and calmly finish into the lower-left corner to level the match at 1-1 in the 25th minute.

Richmond threatened again in the 30th minute when Owen O'Malley fired from distance, but his effort sailed over the crossbar. The visitors continued to create pressure through a series of long throw-ins and set pieces as the half wore on.

Portland nearly reclaimed the lead deep into first-half stoppage time. Gonzalez found Barbosa in the center of the box, but the striker's sliding attempt narrowly missed the right post.

After an entertaining opening 45 minutes featuring goals at both ends, the sides headed to the locker room tied 1-1.

The introduction of Gonzalez into the attack continued to create opportunities for Portland after the break, though Richmond came out aggressively to begin the second half. The Kickers generated a pair of early chances, with Kirkland missing just wide before Austin Amer sent a long-range effort over the bar.

Portland regained the lead in the 57th minute. Georgallides switched play to Jaden Jones-Riley on the right flank, and the winger delivered a perfectly placed cross to the back post. Ollie Wright rose above the Richmond defense and powered a header into the top-left corner for a 2-1 Hearts advantage.

The Hearts doubled their lead three minutes later. Wright ignited a counterattack and sent a dangerous ball across goal that nearly resulted in an own goal by Beckett Howell. Fillion made a diving save, but Richmond failed to clear the rebound, allowing Georgallides to pounce and tuck home the loose ball for a 3-1 lead.

Portland continued to pour on the pressure. Georgallides threaded a perfectly weighted pass to Camara on the counterattack. Showing patience, Camara waited for Fillion to commit before blasting his finish into the roof of the net for a commanding 4-1 lead.

The final touch came in stoppage time when JayTee Kamara's corner found Camara at the near post for his second goal, where he touched home his second goal of the night to cap the scoring right before the final whistle.

The victory snapped Portland's three-match league losing streak and moved the Hearts level on points with FC Naples ahead of their July 3 meeting in Naples.
