Weather: After a week full of intense heat, we get a bit of relief on Sunday as temps start out at 80° and rise to the low-80s throughout the afternoon.
New England Revolution II:
Things have gone mostly well for Pablo Moreira and his Revs II as his side enters Sunday’s contest tied for third place alongside reigning MLS NEXT Pro Cup champions Red Bull New York II with 31 points on an 8-3-4 record with three shootout victories. Ball movement has been the key for Revolution II this season, and the stats show as the club enters Sunday’s match tied for fifth in accurate long balls per match (28.7) while ranking 11th in touches in the opposition box (391), 10th in corners (81), and lead the league in accurate crosses per match (5.3).
Newcomer Myles Morgan has been a driving factor for New England’s offense as he leads the club with six goals in 14 appearances.
Sunday’s match could also see the return of J.D. Gunn or Donovan Parisian in net. Parisian has been away from the club as he’s been on a mandatory break with the first team while factoring into the club’s slow build-up to a return to MLS action following the World Cup break. While not named to the roster, J.D. Gunn recently returned after helping Panama prepare for its World Cup run.
Despite the absence of both first-team keepers, Max Weinstein has stepped up big time over the last four outings as he’s made eight saves and notched one clean sheet while leading New England to a 3-1-0 record.
Sunday could also mark the returns of defenders Schinieder Mimy and Chris Mbaï-Assem. Mimy has missed the last five matches while Mbaï-Assem has missed six as the duo work back from their respective injuries.
Philadelphia Union II:
2026 has been an interesting season for Union II. After starting the season with Ryan Richter, things changed on May 27th when Bradley Carnell’s departure from the first team led to Richter being named the interim Head Coach of the Philadelphia Union.
With Richetr moving up to the first team, Under-18 Head Coach Chris Harmon stepped in to lead Union II.
On top of personnel changes, 2026 has been rough for Philadelphia on the field as well, as they enter Sunday’s match in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with 21 points on a 6-8-2 record with one shootout victory.
Looking at the stats, it’s clear why this season hasn’t gone to plan for Union II. The club tied for last in shots on target per match (3.6) and 24th in big chances missed (16), rank 27th in big chances (23), 29th in accurate long balls per match (18.9), 22nd in accurate crosses per match (3.5), 26th in corners (59), and rank dead last in accurate passes per match (259.1) and touches in the opposing box (254).
Defense has been what’s kept Union II alive in 2026 as they rank 11th in interceptions per match (9.9), ninth in tackles per match (18.7), 10th in clearances per match (21.8), and third in saves per match (3.9).
If available, first-team forward Stad Korzeniowski is a name Revs II will have to watch out for as he leads Union II with five goals.
Malik Jakupovic is another name to watch as the first-team forward has three goals on the year.
Union Academy prospect has been another productive member of the Union II attack with two goals and two assists in four appearances.
