It was do-or-die for Pablo Moreira as Revs II entered Division Day needing a point to secure a spot in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. With a 3-1 win, Revs II is headed to the playoffs.

Moreira made one change from last Sunday’s 1-1 draw and 5-3 shootout victory over Columbus Crew 2. Donovan Parisian started in goal behind the back line of Tylon Smith, Jake Shannon, and Gabe Dahlin. Logan Azar, Javaun Mussenden, and Cristiano Oliveira comprised the middle, with Jared Smith and Damario McIntosh out wide. Myles Morgan and Makai Wells were the attacking duo up top.

New England’s first chance came in the ninth minute when Smith got under Oliveira’s corner kick and headed it forward to Azar. With his back to goal, Azar leapt and flicked the ball goalward, but Adisa De Rosario got his mitts to the effort.

Toronto nearly found the opening goal in the 17th minute when Daniel Stampatori got onto the ball on the right flank and attempted to slot it centrally. Thankfully, no one was at the back post for Toronto as New England regained possession and pushed the ball upfield.

Cristiano Oliveira looked to find the opener in the 22nd minute when he received a pass outside the box, turned toward goal, and lasered a shot that De Rosario got his hands to and saved.

Disaster nearly struck for Revs II in the 29th minute following a free kick just outside the box. Jahmire Nolan stood over the ball and drilled the free kick into the wall. The deflected effort fell right back to Nolan, leading to him unwinding a second attempt that rattled off the top right corner of the post. Miraculously, the effort failed to cross the line before being cleared away.

Donvan Parisian saved the day in the 35th minute when Fletcher Bank broke free from Smith and attempted to volley the ball home, but Parisian came up big to get his hands to it, keeping the game scoreless. Toronto’s Abundance Salaou came close to scoring the first goal in the 41st minute when he found space outside the box and looked to find the upper half of the net. Salaou put too much on it, smashing it into the crossbar and back into play before New England cleared it away.

After a few good chances earlier, New England found the breakthrough in the 43rd minute. It began with McIntosh driving up the right flank and sending a ball centrally to Morgan. The forward headed the ball goalward, deflecting it off Stampatori and into the net as New England took a 1-0 lead.

Morgan’s 43rd-minute strike increased his 2026 tally to 14 goals, cementing his name in Revolution II history after setting the club’s single-season scoring record. Morgan surpasses Liam Butts, who netted 13 to set the record in 2025.

New England did not keep the momentum for long as a whiffed clearance led the ball to Lucas Dawson outside the box. Dawson dished it to his left to Luca Costabile, who drilled it into the top-right corner to level the match at one apiece just before halftime.

A bit of luck eased pressure off New England in the 62nd minute when Mussenden’s lasered attempt from distance deflected off a Toronto defender and miraculously ricocheted over to the left side of the net and in, giving New England a crucial 2-1 lead.

Toronto nearly found a leveler in the 70th minute when Parisian came off his line, trying to get a grip of a headed clearance, but unfortunately, fumbled it to Fletcher Bank. After a few touches and maneuvers in the box, Bank attempted to find the empty net, but it deflected away from danger. Raequan Campbell-Dennis got on the end of the deflected ball and looked to slot it home, but his effort found Smith’s chest before it was cleared away.

Despite their run of form heading into Decision Day, Revolution II stood tall, walking out of York Lions Stadium with all three points following a 3-1 win over TFC II. Sunday’s win and results from around the league saw New England end the 2026 regular season in fifth place, clinching Revolution II’s third-ever playoff berth and their second in as many years.

With the regular season behind them, Pablo Moreira and Revolution II turn their attention to the playoffs. Revs II will be selected by one of the top-four teams, Crown Legacy FC, Chattanooga FC, Atlanta United 2, or Columbus Crew 2, to play in the opening round of the playoffs, which will take place sometime between October 16 and 18.
