First-year head coach Pablo Moreira received league-wide recognition as he was named MLS NEXT Pro’s Coach of the Month for the month of May.
Moreira and Revs II started the month with a trip to UConn’s Morrone Stadium, where they played to a scoreless draw against regional rival CT United FC to take home a point. Unfortunately, they succumbed to CT in the penalty shootout as the home team walked away with the extra point following a 6-5 victory.
May 10 saw the club return to Beirne Stadium, where they battled a tough New York City FC II side to secure all three points with a 3-2 victory. May 13 saw Revs II secure all three points on the road as a late strike from defender Jake Shannon in the 86th minute earned New England a 1-0 shutout victory.
May 17 saw another thrilling win for New England as a goal from Judah Siqueira in the opening minute of second-half stoppage time secured three points and another 1-0 victory.
New England had their plate full on May 22 as the club hit the road to face a daunting Crown Legacy FC side. Despite holding a lead on two different occasions, Crown Legacy was not going down without a fight as they clawed their way to a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. Thanks to heroics from Donovan Parisian and strikes from Jake Shannon, Aarin Prajapati, Javaun Mussenden, and Sharod George, Revolution II walked away with the extra point following a 4-3 shootout victory.
Moreira becomes the second coach in club history to earn the achievement. Former head coach Clint Peay won the award back in May of 2023 after guiding Revs II to a 4-1-0 record.
While many would be quick to take the praise, Moreira humbly deflected it onto his players after learning news of the award from Revolution Technical Director Curt Onalfo.
“This speech is very, very easy, guys. It’s all you guys," he said. "At the end of the day, we ask a lot of you, and you guys execute, and it's what you did.”
