Sunday was a tough day at the office for Pablo Moreira as his Revolution II suffered a devastating 4-0 loss to Philadelphia Union II at home.

Before diving into the match, we talked with Moreira about the recent organizational changes in New England, which saw Curt Onalfo become Senior Vice President of Soccer Operations and place a greater emphasis on the Revolution Academy, Revolution II, and the Pro Player Pathway.

Moreira says he’s excited to work alongside Curt Onalfo even further, highlighting how his previous experiences will be a great asset to Revs II.

“If you date back in his career, in terms of what he's done at the second team level and the academy level, he's been a pioneer in terms of turning out some of the best academies, turning out some of the best Los Angeles Galaxy 2 teams, and then he's obviously done a great job with the first team," Moreira said. "So anytime we can gain experience and have a mentor like that come down and really help out with the process. It's a huge gain for us.”

After turning attention to the result, Moreira told The Blazing Musket that Philly played the way he expected them to in the lead-up to Sunday’s contest. Moreira said his squad “lacks discipline at times” and added that it cost them in the match.

“When we’re frustrated because we’re not scoring goals," Moreira said. "We kind of get away from the game plan, and when you do that, you leave yourself susceptible to what happened today.”

Moreira and New England Revolution II will look to shake off Sunday’s result when they return to action on July 15 when they host Columbus Crew 2 at Beirne Stadium at 7 PM.
