Richie Williams Points to Progress Following Most-Recent Outing
Hear what Williams had to say after Revs II secured their first point since June 16th.
After a staggering six-straight loss, New England Revolution II’s fortunes turned in the right direction on Wednesday when they held Eastern Conference frontrunners FC Cincinnati 2 scoreless and secured their first point since June 14th! Despite the showing in regular time, Revs II fell short in the shootout as they suffered a 6-5 loss.
Following the match, The Blazing Musket asked head coach Richie Williams his thoughts on the performance and what comes next.
“They’re obviously atop the table in the league, so they’ve found ways to get results,” he said. “We know we can compete with any team in the league. We have to do it over 90 minutes, and today we did that. We kept them off the board, but we created some chances where we could easily walk away with three points, but it was a competitive game.”
After a hellacious two months, Williams said the point was a sign of “progress”.
“Hopefully, we can move forward and next game, get three points,” the coach added.
Williams and Revs II will look to build off that progress when they look for their first win since June 14 when they square off against Columbus Crew 2 on August 18th at 6:00 PM ET.
