Rhode Island FC Signs Prince Saydee
Former Hartford Athletic Forward is Moving East for 2024
Rhode Island FC added another piece to their expansion season roster, with the signing of forward Prince Saydee.
“I am incredibly excited to wear the Rhode Island FC crest and to represent a team that is committed to being a team for all Rhode Island. I am already looking forward to our first practice. Thank you to Coach Smith for this wonderful opportunity,” said Saydee.
Saydee led Hartford Athletic with 10 goals in USL in 2023, while also registering three assists, tied for second on the team. It was his second season in Hartford, following up a strong 2022 which saw him register four goals and 8 assists.
The Liberian international has played four seasons in USL total, with stops in Miami FC in 2020 and Phoenix Rising in 2021. Prior to his USL career, Saydee scored 23 goals for Barrack Young Controllers FC in Liberia, before coming to the United States and playing one season in 2019 for the now-defunct Atlanta SC of the NPSL.
“As we prepare for our inaugural season, we continue to prioritize building a roster that has players with the skill and USL Championship experience to help us compete in a very tough league. Prince will contribute to our team from day one and will bring valuable league experience to our team,” said Rhode Island FC Head Coach Khano Smith.
With the signing, Saydee joins teammate Conor McGlynn as former Hartford players that have cross state lines to join expansion Rhode Island FC, adding fuel to the newest rivalry in USL.
