The New England Revolution have reportedly bulked up their attack on Friday as The Athletic’s Tom Bogert reports the Revs are finalizing a deal to sign Daniel Gazdag after the Columbus Crew reportedly buyout the 30-year-old Hungarian. While Gazdag did occupy a Designated Player spot for the Crew, Bogert notes that he will not require one in New England.
Gazdag’s time in MLS began back in 2021 after joining the Philadelphia Union from Hungarian side Budapest Honvéd FC. His five seasons in Philly saw Gazdag tally 72 goals and 24 assists in 161 outings across all competitions.
April 11, 2025, marked a change of scenery for Gazdag as the Union shipped him off to the Columbus Crew in exchange for up to $4,500,000. Since arriving in Columbus at the start of last year, Gazdag has tallied nine goals and five assists in 55 appearances across all competitions.
While listed as a “midfielder”, Gazdag also has experience across his time in Hungary and Major League Soccer. Whether it be in the midfield or the attack, Gazdag’s arrival comes as the Revs deal with injury issues in both realms while searching to build a more ferocious attack.
