Weather: Saturday looks to be a classic raw fall day in New England. Temperatures will sit in the mid-60s at kickoff while tapering off to the low 60s throughout the afternoon. While most of the day’s rain will fall before kickoff, showers are slated to roll into Gillette for 4:00 and 5:00 pm, which means we could be in store for a wet one.
New England Revolution II:
As hinted in the intro, things have been incredibly rough for Revs II as of late. Revs II enter Saturday's match amidst of a 12-game winless run, as their last regulation win came on June 12 . After turning the corner with two straight draws and shootout victories, things soured for Revs II in their latest road outing against Orlando City B. After a solid first half, goals from Alex Freeman in the 49th minute and Jack Lynn in the 61st minute led to Orlando securing a 2-0 victory over Revs II.
While 2024 has been very bleak, youth development has been a small spark of light in the sea of darkness. Wednesday saw the organization commit to that when they signed standout Eric Klein through the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season! Klein has clocked the most minutes for Revolution II in 2024, as he's played 1,861 minutes this season. He also has one goal and three assists on the season.
Marcos Dias will be on the hunt for his tenth goal of the season. If he finds the back of the net against Chattanooga, Dias will become the second player in Revolution II history to notch double-digit goals in a season! Current Minnesota United forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith became the first to do so after ending his lone season with 12 goals in 2023.
While we’ve seen Victor Souza return, Patrick Leal, Hesron Barry, and Giovanni Caldeόn remain sidelined. Fortunately, Hesron appears to be on the mend and slowly working his way back as he’s been training in recent weeks. Patrick Leal and Giovanni Caldeόn remain out as they continue recovering from their respective injuries with their last appearance coming on August 24 and August 18, respectively. With three games left, let’s just hope we don’t see any more injuries.
Chattanooga FC:
Rod Underwood and Chattanooga FC come into Saturday’s match looking for a crucial three points to help their playoff hopes. They find themselves in ninth place in the East with 38 points on an 8-9-8 record with six shootout victories.
Like Revs II, things have been rough for Chattanooga as of late. They ended the month of August winless after going 0-2-2 with a negative five-goal differential. Chattanooga started September on a sour note following a 4-3 defeat at home to Atlanta United 2 but bounced back during their most recent outing on the 8th with a 2-1 win against Crew 2 at home.
Forwards Medhi Ouamri, Jesus Ibarra, and midfielder Alex McGrath have been pivotal to Chattanooga’s success in 2024. Ouamri leads the Chattanooga Golden Boot race as he has 12 goals along with two assists in 24 appearances. Ibarra and McGrath each have six goals with two and five assists, respectively.
