Revolution II Sign Joe Buck and Keegan Hughes
Revs II get some much-needed help in the midfield and defense.
New England Revolution II made two additions to their roster Friday morning when the club announced the signing of Joe Buck and Keegan Hughes.
Buck’s signing comes days after GiveMeSport’s Tom Bogert reported the brother of Revolution Homegrown had signed a deal with the MLS NEXT Pro side.
Buck joins Revolution II following a successful collegiate career at Georgetown University that saw the Arlington, Massachusetts native tally four goals and five assists over 74 appearances for the Hoyas. Buck’s time in the nation’s capital saw him bring the Hoyas some silverware as Georgetown won the 2024 Big East title.
The 22-year-old midfielder is no stranger to the Revolution II system. The 2021 USL League One season saw the then Revolution Academy prospect clock 93 minutes over two appearances.
Friday’s signing sees Buck sign a one-year deal through the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season with a one-year club option for 2026.
On top of Buck, Revolution II also welcomed defender Keegan Hughes into the fold.
After starting his career in the Columbus Crew Academy, where he was named Crew Academy Player of the Year in 2018, Hughes committed to Stanford University, where he tallied eight goals and seven assists over 73 appearances for the Cardinals.
Following his collegiate career at Stanford, Hughes took the next step in his professional journey on January 11th, 2023, when he signed a Homegrown contract with the Columbus Crew.
Hughes’ time in Columbus saw him mostly feature with Crew 2, where he tallied one goal over nine appearances during the 2023 season. Hughes also made two U.S. Open Cup appearances and made his MLS debut on March 26th, 2023, when he clocked one minute as a substitute during the Crew’s 6-1 win over Atlanta.
August 4, 2023, saw the defender loaned to USL Championship side Tulsa FC. Hughes went on to tally one goal over nine appearances for Tulsa before returning to Columbus following the 2023 season.
2024 saw Hughes spend the season on loan at USL Championship side Loudoun United. He went on to clock 2,376 minutes over 32 appearances across all competitions.
Hughes’ time in Columbus came to an end as the Crew declined his option in November of 2024.
Hughes becomes the second former Columbus product to join the team this offseason as Revs II signed former Crew 2 forward Jayden Da on December 5, 2024.
