Revolution Announce Hiring of David Kammarman
Kammarman joins New England after stints in D.C., New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, which saw him oversee multiple MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield champions.
Four days after The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio broke the story, the New England Revolution officially announced the hiring of decorated soccer executive David Kammarman as the club’s head of player recruitment.
Kammarman joins the New England Revolution following stints in multiple MLS organizations like D.C. United, NY/NJ MetroStars, Los Angeles Galaxy, Atlanta United, and most recently, LAFC. Sources within the LAFC organization credited Kammarman for scouting and recommending 2023’s Golden Boot winner and MVP finalist Denis Bouanga to the organization.
Kammarman’s work within Major League Soccer has seen him rack up a large amount of silverware, which includes eight MLS Cup and five Supporters’ Shield titles.
Kammarman’s role in New England will see him work alongside Curt Onalfo, Assistant Sporting Director Chris Tierney, Technical Director Remi Roy, and front office staff.
Kammarman’s addition to the organization feels like a shot to the arm for an organization dwelling in the basement of Major League Soccer with a 2-7-1 record. Hopefully, Kammarman’s addition can help the organization recruit and acquire great talent in the upcoming secondary window and beyond.
I keep hearing how Chris Tierney is such a promising management talent. I wonder how this affects the whole management structure. Will Tierney and Remy Roy now report to Kammerman, who reports to Onalfo?
Not really sure what we need Onalfo for ... especially after some of his disastrous decisions. I'd like to believe this hire is a response to Onalfo's mistakes (at least then we'd know that ownership is aware of them).
Would it be an overreaction to say this is likely the best news since the season started for us? Especially if we factor out Borrero coming back since that was expected and not really news.
