Revolution Academy to Field Under-13 Squad
The Revs pro player pathway has grown as a U-13 squad will take the field
The New England Revolution made a groundbreaking announcement on Thursday that will positively impact the club’s development of young talent for years to come.
A new youth team will join the ranks as the Revolution will field an Under-13 team. The U-13s will join the U-14s, U-15s, U-17s, and U-19s as they begin their inaugural season on Sunday, September 3rd.
The U-13s will field a roster of 95 players, which includes 52 returning players along with 43 newcomers.
The addition of a U-13 squad is the latest addition to the Revolution’s pro player pathway. A pathway that has seen 29 Revs Academy players make their professional debut with the Revs MLS NEXT Pro side Revolution II. It’s also seen the likes of Esmir Bajraktarević, Noel Buck, and Jack Panayotou, who rose the ranks to the first team.
“We’re proud of the progress we have made in our development system over the last few years and are especially thankful to the Kraft family for their expanded investment into our program,” Revolution Technical Director Curt Onalfo said. “We’re all very excited to keep building upon this momentum as we enter the fall season.”
B.J. Noble, who has served as an assistant and Academy administrator since 2021, will lead the U-13s.
“We’re especially excited to expand our pathway to reach the Under-13 age group, further establishing that direct bridge from those youth levels to the professional ranks,” Director of Youth Development Rob Becerra said. “We are working tirelessly to build on the Revolution Academy’s recent success in MLS NEXT and developing players for the next level. We’ll continue to strive for excellence in every aspect of our program to represent the Revolution and New England with pride.”
Tucked into the U-13 announcement was news regarding expansion to the Revolution Training Center. A full-sized artificial field will link to the existing natural grass fields.
