Report: Brandon Bye Suffers ACL injury
Sources tell Seth Macomber that Brandon Bye sustained an ACL injury against Atlas.
New England Revolution fans got bad news on Friday night as sources told Seth Macomber that right back Brandon Bye suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in the Revs’ come-from-behind draw and subsequent shootout victory over Atlas.
Bye suffered the reported injury in the 46th minute of Thursday’s match when Jaziel Martínez laid a tackle from behind, which caused the duo to collapse to the pitch. The Revs medical staff tended to Bye and assisted him off the pitch as Ryan Spaulding replaced him.
Brandon Bye remained on the sideline following the substitution but was seen on crutches during the penalty shootout.
Bye’s injury could not have come at a worse time for the Revolution, as the secondary transfer window is now closed. If the Revs believe they need to bolster the right-back position, they have to explore the free agency market.
With Bye likely out for an extended amount of time, we’ll likely see DeJuan Jones shift to the right, with Ryan Spaulding starting at left-back.
The Revolution returns to action Monday evening as they face Querétaro F.C. in the Leagues Cup Round of 16.
The Blazing Musket wishes Brandon a speedy recovery!
Is the turf an issue with these injuries?
Ack.
