Olger Escobar Named to MLS NEXT All-Star Game
The 16-year-old forward joins the MLS NEXT All-Star squad following a standout season with the Revolution U-17s!
Revolution Academy forward Olger Escobar will represent the New England Revolution come All-Star weekend as the 16-year-old was named to the MLS NEXT All-Star game.
Escobar’s addition to the All-Star squad comes after a standout season with the Revs U-17s, where he notched 15 goals in the 2022-23 season.
Olger Escobar recently traveled with the U-17s to Texas to partake in the MLS NEXT Cup. While the Revs U-17s run ended in the semifinals, Escobar’s time at MLS NEXT Cup was not over as he saw time with the U-19s in their semifinal and final matches as the U-19s secured their consecutive MLS NEXT Cup.
Escobar has also seen time with MLS NEXT Pro side New England Revolution II, as he’s clocked 36 minutes over three substitution appearances in 2023.
The young forward has also garnered interest on the national level for Guatemala, as Escobar has received four call-ups on the youth level. Escobar made a statement in Guatemala’s 8-3 win over Curaçao as he netted a hat trick.
“We are incredibly proud to have Olger represent the New England Revolution at the MLS NEXT All-Star Game,” Revolution Technical Director Curt Onalfo said. “Olger has a ton of potential and has worked tremendously hard all season. He is very deserving of this recognition and we are excited to help him continue his development here with his hometown club.”
Escobar joins the likes of Revolution Homegrown’s Esmir Bajraktarević and Jack Panayotou, who participated in 2022’s All-Star Game.
The MLS NEXT All-Star game will take place on July 19th at 10:00 AM ET at the Naval Academy’s Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Maryland.
