New England Revolution Transfer Rumors: 3 Revs to Watch
The Revs could be making some moves this year
In his latest article in The Athletic, MLS transfer insider Tom Bogert discussed the status of three New England Revolution players.
The entire article is great and provides valuable insight as always so make sure to check it out but for now let’s focus on New England.
The big name is Djordje Petrovic. Arguably the top goalkeeper in MLS, the Serbian has attracted some attention. Manchester United has been looking at the goalkeeper along with Benfica, Porto, and Villarreal according to Bogert.
Bogert notes that New England has yet to receive a formal offer. One has to imagine those will be coming soon. If Petrovic is on the roster come 2024, it would be absolutely shocking.
Next up is Noel Buck. The youngster is receiving a heavy dose of playing time in 2023 and is using it wisely. In 15 games played this season, the 18-year-old has scored two goals along with 14 interceptions.
Bogert notes that Buck has been attracting attention in England due to his UK passport making a move across the pond easier. The English FA is also interested in Buck even going as far as to looking to invite him to a recent youth national team camp.
But according to Bogert, it was decided between the FA and New England that it would be best for Buck to continue playing with the Revolution first team rather than participating in a youth international camp.
Finally, that leaves us with the curious case of DeJuan Jones. Bogert reported that while there has been interest abroad — with the left back now 26 years old — his chance might have vanished.
With Jones making the roster for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, things can change. If he gets the necessary playing time he can prove that a move over to Europe is still in the cards. There’s nothing like playing well on the international level to boost a player’s value on the transfer market.
But as Bogert puts it, his value is much higher stateside. With players going in and out of New England at an increased rate, Jones has the potential to carve out a legacy with the Revolution.
Will hate to see them go, but happy that they get the chance to full fill their dreams.
Every game they play for us is something we should appreciate as fans of this soccer club. DeJuan is such a player that most MLS teams would celebrate. I’m so glad we have them all. And there are more, too.
