Revolution II Sign Damario McIntosh
McIntosh joins Revs II after starting the 2024 season on an amateur agreement.
Less than 24 hours after sources close to The Athletic’s Tom Bogert claimed Revolution Academy and Revolution II standout Damario McIntosh was set to ascend the club’s pro player pathway and ink a Homegrown deal starting in 2025, it appears the organization began that process Tuesday when the 16-year-old signed to a MLS NEXT Pro contract through the remainder of the 2024 season.
After joining the Academy in 2023, the right back went on to tally two goals and an assist. McIntosh’s efforts with the Academy led to the Newark, California native signing an amateur agreement with Revs II on March 13th.
McIntosh has appeared in 11 matches for Revolution II in 2024, where he clocked 853 minutes.
“Damario is a promising talent that is very deserving of the opportunity to take the next step in our pro pathway by signing with our second team,” Revolution technical director Remi Roy said. “Damario’s future is incredibly bright and we’re proud to work alongside him as he continues his development here in New England.”
McIntosh and Revolution II return to action on Friday, June 14th, when they host New York Red Bulls II inside Mark A. Ouellette Stadium at 7:00 PM ET.
So wait what does this mean for the first team rumor? I feel like other homegrowns who went to Revs II first still signed immediately as homegrowns, with some stipulations about spending some time with Revs II first or something. But I'm not sure I'm remembering that right.
