Blair Gavin, Pablo Moreira Join Caleb Porter's Staff
Caleb has his coaching crew
Caleb Porter now has his staff and whether it be to Porter or Revolution fans, there will be a lot of familiar faces.
Porter already announced that Clint Peay would be staying on as an assistant coach but Kevin Hitchcock has now officially been brought back as the goalkeeper coach for New England.
The former Columbus Crew head coach has also brought some of his staff from his last stint as a head coach. Porter’s longtime assistant Pablo Moreira joined the staff.
Moreira is a two-time MLS Cup winner as an assistant coach, working with Porter in Portland (2015) and Columbus (2020). Before becoming an assistant, the 38-year-old worked as a video analyst.
Along with Moreira, former Revolution player Blair Gavin is joining the Revolution staff. Gavin’s most recent role was serving as head Coach of FC Tulsa. He was previously with the Columbus Crew as a first-team video analyst before being promoted to assistant coach after his first season.
New England has also made some front-office moves. Federico Pizzuto has been hired as the club’s new Director of Sports Performance after six seasons in a similar role with the Columbus Crew.
Pizzuto served as the Performance Director for Porto FC’s Youth Academy from 2016-2018. He worked with the Under-15 to Under-19 with the Portuguese club. He was previously the strength and conditioning coach for Porto FC’s academy from 2015-16. Before Porto, he worked with multiple Olympic medalists as an endurance coach for high-level runners from 2011-15.
Michael Steidle has joined Pizzuto’s staff as the First Team Strength & Conditioning Coach after six seasons with Sporting Kansas City.
Finally, Curt Onalfo also added to his staff as Chris Tierney has been promoted to assistant sporting director and Remi Roy is the new technical director for New England. With the front office and coaching staff settled, all focus will be on preparing for the 2024 season.
Not a single mention of Richie Williams. Interesting.
