With the FIFA World Cup games underway at Boston Stadium, Kraft Sports + Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against the Town of Foxborough for alleging the town is using its ability to issue licenses as a way to “extract funds from the organization."
The lawsuit from Kraft Sports + Entertainment claims the town can charge only a $100 fee to renew the license, which is much lower than the nearly $1 million lawyers said the organization reportedly paid the town in April.
This isn’t the first time Foxborough and a Kraft subsidiary have battled one another. In the lead-up to the ongoing World Cup, the two sides battled over who was responsible for paying a $7 million security bill. After months of back-and-forth talks, both sides reached an agreement to settle the bill and secure the necessary licensing needed to host the World Cup.
