We’re just over a week away from New England Revolution II kicking off its seventh season.

While there’s plenty to be excited about ahead of Pablo Moreira’s first year at the helm, some questions do loom over the club ahead of the new season. Here are five I have.

1 - How does this roster fare following numerous departures?

The offseason was an eventful one for New England as we saw big names like Marcos Dias, Liam Butts, Victor Souza, Gevork Diarbian, and others depart the club.

Looking at the stats, Revolution II lost 42.95% of minutes clocked, 71.7% of goals scored, 66.67% of assists, 61.56% of shots taken, 64.35% of shots on target, 40.01% of completed passes, 61.35% of key passes, and 42.13% of clearances they had during the 2025 season.

Considering the club has only signed four new faces in the offseason, can the squad fill the void left by the offseason’s departures?

2 - Can last year’s mid-season acquisitions get acclimated?

One thing I give Richie Williams and the club tremendous credit for is not being afraid to add new faces during the season. The summer and fall saw Revs II add names like Chris Mbaï-Assem and Sharod George.

While the pair were tremendous additions full of potential, the timing of their signings didn’t give them much time to get acclimated to the style of play.

George only clocked 206 minutes in seven appearances, while Mbaï-Assem only clocked 115 minutes in five.

I’m interested in how the pair looks in a new system under Moreira, and after having the ability to get up to speed with a full preseason.

3 - Can academy prospects serve as quality depth?

With just 11 players under contract ahead of the new year, Moreira will have to rely heavily on the Academy for depth if first-team players are unavailable.

While the idea of having a bench chock-full of Academy prospects is enticing, I’m interested to see how ready they are for the occasion. It rightfully may take some time to get up to speed and build up confidence, which again, is totally acceptable, but how could that impact Revolution II’s results at the beginning of the season?

4 - What does the goalkeeper situation look like?

Revolution II enters the year with Max Weinstein and Matthew Tibbetts under contract, while first-teamers JD Gunn and Donovan Parisian will look for playing time.

Whether it’s been Clint Peay or Williams, I think Revs II has struggled with rotation at the goalkeeper position. I hope we see a somewhat even split between Tibbets and Weinsten, plus some spot appearances from Gunn and Parisian.

5 - Can Revs II fill seats?

While the move to Bryant’s Beirne Stadium was likely for World Cup and Boston Legacy purposes, I’m interested if the club can capitalize on the opportunity they have at Bryant and get people to attend games.

Considering class is still in session, I’d love to see the move to Beirne intrigue the Bryant community and lead to a decent crowd at Beirne Stadium. I also hope Revs fans in the area are able to come out and experience Beirne.

Revolution II will begin answering these questions on Sunday, March 1st, when they welcome former forward Liam Butts and Atlanta United 2 to Beirne Stadium at 8:00 PM ET.
