The New England Revolution’s flurry of offseason moves continued on Monday when the club dealt veteran midfielder Emmanuel Boateng to San Diego FC in exchange for $200,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money

“We are glad to facilitate this move for Ema, allowing him the opportunity to return and work more closely with the Right to Dream Academy that helped launch his career,” sporting director Curt Onalfo said. “We are grateful to Ema for his years of service in New England, where he was a true professional and valued teammate. We wish him all the best in this next chapter in San Diego.”

Boateng’s tenure in New England began on January 7, 2021, after signing as a free agent following spells with the LA Galaxy, D.C. United, and the Columbus Crew.

During his four seasons with New England, the 30-year-old midfielder appeared in 108 matches across all competitions and tallied eight goals and 10 assists over 4,080 minutes. Boateng time with the club also saw him hoist the Supporters’ Shield title in 2021.

Boateng joins San Diego FC as the expansion side prepares to kick off their inaugural MLS season in 2025.
