The 2026 Major League Soccer All-Star Game saw the MLS All-Stars defeat the LIGA MX All-Stars 4-2. While Heung-min Son took home the MVP award, Carles Gil played a part in his performance.
New England's captain started the match and within 25 minutes had two assists. The first came in the 20th minute as he played Sonny in on goal and the South Korean forward calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
The second assist was a cross three minutes later that showed off Gil's skill and touch. Son took care of the rest.
"I think everyone knows the type of player he is, but I have been lucky to know also the person in these days," Gil told media after the game. "He's an amazing person, a very humble guy. So it was a pleasure to be here with him."
