Group I declared all the goals are belong to us and a rampant French side overwhelmed a fully rotated Norway side early and Senegal wore down a 10-man Iraq side to emphatic victories.

FRANCE 4, NORWAY 1

TBM was on hand at Gillette Boston Stadium for this one. Sam Lattof has the full recap.

I think everyone was kind of bummed that Norway didn't go for this one but I understand the calculated take by head coach Stale Solbakken here. Even if you try and match France and go for the group win, you're still the underdog and taking the rest and going into the knockouts fresh and taking your chances in the bracket is an understandable rationale.

Ousmane Dembélé Powers France Past Norway
In what has supposed to be a battle between Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, the PSG forward stole the show.

France meanwhile, is just absolutely rolling and at this point you're looking at potential speedbumps in their way from the full bracket. A potential matchup with Germany in the Round of 16, the winner of Netherlands/Morocco maybe in the quarters, because at this point if France isn't getting back to the semis or a third straight final, it should be a massive upset.

SENEGAL 5, IRAQ 0

An early Habib Diarra goal combined with a 13th-minute red card to Iraq's Rebin Sulaka got Senegal started on their way to the massive win they needed but they would have to wait until after halftime to open the floodgates.

Once Ismaila Sarr stabbed home Senegal's second in the 56th minute, it started a bangers-only playlist that saw Senegal rocket up the third-place table.

Pape Gueye entered right after the second goal and two minutes later unleashed a rocket from his left foot that picked out the top corner, then hit a pure first-time full volley in the 71st to solidify the Lions of Teranga into the next round.

Not to miss out on the party, Iliman Ndiaye slammed home a 5th in the 82nd minute when he unleashed a shot from just outside the area to beat Jalal Hassan at his near post.

GROUP OVERVIEW

A deserved but chalky group table that sets up France against Sweden, Norway against Ivory Coast, and Senegal against Belgium.

We pour one out for valiant Iraq, who were simply outdone by the enormous offensive output of this group, but did manage to allow most of the damage to occur in the second half, though I don't think that will be much of a consolation to them.
