Could Mauricio Pochettino stick around the United States Men’s National Team following the 2026 FIFA World Cup? The United States Soccer Federation hopes so, as The Athletic’s Adam Crafton reports the federation has offered the Argentine gaffer a new contract that will keep Pochettino with the United States for another World Cup cycle through 2030.

Sources close to Crafton with knowledge of the situation confirm that talks between USSF and Pochettino, whose contract expires following the 2026 World Cup, have been going on behind the scenes for months now. While a new contract is on the table, Crafton reports both sides felt it would be best to wait until the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup to make a final decision.

Pochettino has been at the helm of the USMNT since September 10, 2024, and has guided the U.S. to a 17-11-1 record across competitive and friendly action.

The Argentine’s first World Cup with the U.S. has gotten off to a good start as victories over Paraguay and Australia secured the co-hosts the top spot in Group D and a spot in the Round of 32 as they prepare to face Bosnia and Herzegovina inside San Francisco Bay Area Stadium on July 1.
