With the secondary transfer window set to open in a little over two weeks, another potential name has been linked to the New England Revolution per César Luis Merlo.

According to Merlo, the Revs reportedly began negotiations with Argentine Primera División side Boca Juniors over a potential deal for winger Luca Langoni.

The 22-year-old Argentine has spent his entire professional career with Boca Juniors after rising through their youth system and Boca Juniors II before joining the senior team in July 2022. Langoni has appeared in 68 matches for Boca Juniors, where he’s tallied 11 goals and four assists while clocking over 3,000 minutes.

Langoni’s time in Argentina also saw him lift silverware as he featured in Boca’s 2021-22 Campeón Supercopa Argentina and 2022 Argentine Primera División championship squads.

A potential move for Langoni would make sense for the Revolution, who have placed DP winger Tomás Chancalay on the season-ending injury list.

Merlo did not mention any specifics regarding the negotiations, but with the window fast approaching, expect the Revolution to ramp up the search for a potential replacement.

According to a German Garcia Grova, Boca has rejected the offer but New England will make another offer for the winger.
