As other clubs made their final preparations for Tuesday’s MLS SuperDraft, the New England Revolution had other plans as they traded all their picks in the draft.

The Revolution entered Tuesday with the 20th and 78th overall picks. They were slated to have the 49th overall pick but dealt the pick and $50,000 in 2025 GAM to D.C. United for Ian Harkes’ rights on July 5th, 2023.

The 20th and 78th overall picks head to Minnesota United, while New England receives $100,000 in 2024 GAM.

In a press release announcing the move, Revolution Technical Director Curt Onalfo explained why Tuesday's transaction occurred. Onalfo said after evaluating the strength of the Revs Academy and pro player pathway, "the best way to strengthen our club this week would be to leverage our draft capital into valuable allocation money that will help allow us greater flexibility to enhance our team through the senior roster."
