New England Revolution II bolstered its attack as the club announced the signing of Japanese forward/winger Shuma Sasaki through the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season with a one-year club option for 2027.

Sasaki, 23, arrives in New England following five years at the collegiate level with the University of the Cumberlands and the University of Michigan. During his time at the University of the Cumberlands, Sasaki tallied 12 goals and 25 assists in 69 appearances for the Patriots.

Shuma’s time with the Patriots also saw him take home MSC Second-Team All-Conference honors in 2022 and 2023. He also earned MSC First Team All-Conference in 2024.

The Kawasaki native had some ties to the Revolution organization before signing, as he played under current first-team Assistant Coach Sean Hughes at the University of Michigan in 2025. Sasaki’s lone season with the Wolverines saw him tally three goals and two assists in 15 appearances for the program. Sasaki’s time in Ann Arbor also saw him take home 2025 All-BIG 10 Second Team honors.

Sasaki will look to make his Revolution II and professional debut on April 12 when the club welcomes Red Bull New York II to Beirne Stadium.
