Victor Souza Reflects on 2024 Season, Looks Forward to 2025
Hear what Victor Souza had to say following Friday's training session!
2024 was a difficult year for Victor Souza. On top of the Revolution II season not going to plan, an unfortunate injury kept the defender sidelined for a significant number of games.
Souza said the injury was tough for him mentally. Despite the setbacks, Souza says he feels “really good” and “confident” heading into the new year.
This offseason saw Tiago Suarez — who frequently paired alongside Souza — loaned out to USL Championship side Birmingham. With Suarez gone for the moment, Revolution II brought in two great pieces for the backline with the additions of Gabe Dahlin and Keegan Hughes.
Souza expressed how their addition to the roster will “make it a lot easier” for the team, especially on defense.
Through his two seasons with Revolution II, the former Boston College product has appeared in 45 games for the club, and it appears that experience is already rubbing off to younger players making their way through the Revs II system.
“I try to lead by example,” Souza said. “I try to give the younger players advice or tips in general to use my experience in a beneficial way.”
While Souza called the 2024 season “tough”, he believes the experience will help the club this season.
"I think it makes us super motivated and hungry to come into this year strong and perform because we feel like we have something to prove,” he said.
Revs II will look to get 2025 started on the right note on Sunday when they host Philadelphia Union II inside Gillette Stadium at 3 PM ET.
