A former member of Vermont Green FC has found the back of the net for the first time as a professional.
Diba Nwegbo scored for the first time since joining Birmingham Legion FC. Nwegbo scored the final goal of the match for the Legion in their 4-1 win over the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup. It was a beautiful shot that found the top corner of the net.
The match also saw former Revolution II forward Mayele Malango play against the former member of Vermont. Malango had an early chance to score but his shot went just wide of goal in the 37th minute of his debut match for Chattanooga.
Nwegbo will look to find the back of the net for the first time in the USL Championship as Birmingham’s next match is against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday.
