USWNT Opens Up 2025 SheBelieves Cup With 2-0 Win Over Colombia
“I am playing beside people I’ve grown up idolizing and watching on the field, so being out here playing is a full circle moment.”
Catarina Macario and Ally Sentnor lifted the U.S. Women’s National Team to a 2-0 win over Colombia in the first match of 2025 as part of the SheBelieves Cup. The United States has won seven of the past nine SheBelieves crowns.
Center back Emily Sonnett received the captain’s armband as she was honored for reaching 100 caps in the fall. Macario scored her first goal since 2022 after beating a Colombian defender to the ball in the box.
Sentnor added another goal to the lead in the 60th minute. Her goal came for a shot that was 27 yards away from the box and was Sentnor’s first international goal.
It was also her first cap for the United States and she is the first U.S. player to score her first international goal in the SheBelives Cup Tournament.
“It means the world,” Senator added, per the Associated Press. “I am playing beside people I’ve grown up idolizing and watching on the field, so being out here playing is a full circle moment.”
The squad will head into Sunday’s game against Australia with a win in their back pocket and a lot of confidence.
