USWNT: Alyssa Naeher to Retire from International Competition
The legendary goalkeeper is set to close out her USWNT career.
Alyssa Naeher’s time with the United States Women’s National Team is nearing an end. The veteran goalkeeper took to social media and announced she planned to retire from international soccer after the USWNT’s trip to Europe later this month.
In an Instagram post, Naeher called her time with the US “a great honor”. She thanked her teammates, coaches, and family for pushing and supporting her and making her a better person and player.
Since debuting in December 2014, Naeher has appeared in 113 matches and kept 68 clean sheets. Naeher’s time with the United States Women’s National Team saw her and the US secure back-to-back World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019, SheBelieves Cup titles in 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, Concacaf Women’s Championship titles in 2018 and 2022, a Concacaf W Gold Cup title in 2024, an Olympic Bronze title in 2020, and a gold medal in 2024.
Naeher’s time with the US also saw her rack up individual honors, including Concacaf Goalkeeper of the Year in 2018, 2018 Concacaf Best XI, 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup Gold Glove, and 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup Best XI.
The United States will say goodbye to a legend when they travel to Europe for a pair of friendlies against England and the Netherlands. November 30 sees the U.S. face England inside Wembly at 12:20 PM before traveling to ADO Den Haag Stadium to face the Netherlands on December 3 at 3:30 PM ET.
