Transfer Rumor: Revolution to Acquire Tomás Chancalay Via Loan
The 24-year-old Argentine will reportedly join the Revs on a one-year loan, which includes a purchase option.
While the transfer window doesn't officially open until July 5th, reports have indicated the New England Revolution may have already ironed out the details on their first move of the window.
According to Racing de Alma’s Nando Maderna, the New England Revolution is acquiring 24-year-old Argentine winger Tomás Chancalay on a one-year loan from Racing. The winger recently returned to the Argentine club following a loan stint with UAE Pro League side Al-Wasl, where he notched eight goals and five assists over 19 appearances.
Nando states that the loan will see the Revs pay Racing $400,000 every six months. There’s also a reported $3,000,000 purchase option upon the conclusion of the loan.
Since 2019, Chancalay has appeared in 80 matches across all competitions, where he notched 17 goals and nine assists over 5,302 minutes. Before joining Racing, Chancalay appeared in 80 contests for CA Colon, where he notched eight goals and six assists over 4,473 minutes.
Chancalay appears to be a replacement for winger Dylan Borrero, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury on April 29th against FC Cincinnati.
