September International Window Recap
See how the 10 New England-based players faired during September's international window.
The September international window was a busy one for New England-based players as 10 players from across the region represented their national teams.
Forward Leo Camapana joined the Ecuador National Team as the nation played two World Cup Qualifying matches. Campana was an unused substitute in Ecuador’s scoreless draw against Paraguay on September 4. Campana was also an unused sub during September 9th’s 1-0 victory over Argentina.
Defender Mamadou Fofana joined the Mali National Team for a pair of World Cup Qualifying matches. September 4 saw Fofana get the start when Mali faced Comoros. He went on to play all 90 minutes as Mali secured a 3-0 shutout victory. Fofana clocked another 90 minutes on September 8 as Mali suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ghana.
Newcomer Dor Turgeman joined Israel’s National Team for a pair of World Cup Qualifying matches. September 5 saw Dor start the game on the bench, where he entered the match in the 72nd minute. Turgeman helped guide Israel to a 4-0 victory over Moldova. Turgeman was on the bench for September 8th’s meeting against Italy and entered the match in the 88th minute as Israel suffered a 5-4 loss.
Revolution II forward Alex Monis joined the Philippines Under-23 squad as the nation competed in AFC Asian U-23 Qualifying action. Monis got the start in September 3rd’s 2-1 loss to Syria. He started once again on September 6 as the Philippines secured a 1-0 victory over Tajikistan. Monis made a third consecutive start on September 9 as the Philippines secured a dominant 4-0 win over Nepal.
Despite finishing second in Group K, the Philippines’ run in the competition is over as they were not one of the four second-placed teams to secure advancement to the 2026 AFC Asian Cup.
Revolution II newcomer Chris Mbaï-Assem earned his first call-up to the Central African Republic as the nation played two World Cup Qualifiers. Mbaï-Assem made his international debut on September 4 after starting in the Central African Republic’s meeting with Madagascar. His day came to an end after the first half as Madagascar walked away with a 2-0 victory. Mbaï-Assem was an unused substitute in September 7th’s 2-0 loss to Comoros.
Rhode Island FC midfielder Jojea Kwizera joined the Rwanda National Team for a pair of World Cup Qualifiers. Kwizera started on the bench in the September 6 match against Nigeria, but entered the game in the 54th minute. Rwanda came up short as Nigeria walked away with a 1-0 victory. September 9 saw Kwizera get the start, clocking 79 minutes in a 1-0 win over Comoros.
Portland Hearts of Pine midfielder Natty James joined the Trinidad & Tobago National Team for a pair of World Cup Qualifiers. James was an unused substitute in September 5th’s meeting with Curacao that ended in a scoreless draw. James started on the bench during September 9th’s meeting against Jamaica. James subbed on in the 65th minute as Trinidad & Tobago suffered a 2-0 loss.
September’s international window also saw three members of the New England Revolution Academy receive call-ups. Forward Grant Emerhi was called up to the Lithuania Under-19 squad. After making his Revolution II debut, forward Makai Wells joined the United States Under-17 squad, while forward Brandon Velez joined the U.S. Under-16 squad.
