Rhode Island FC announced today that they’ve signed the first forward in the club’s history, a 25-year-old Irish national who has spent seven seasons in the League of Ireland First Division with Drogheda United and St. Patrick’s Athletic.
Mark Doyle comes with significant experience including 217 senior appearances across several competitions, scoring 65 goals and 22 assists, and averaging 0.51 goals and assists per 90 minutes. His experience also includes 3 UEFA Europa League qualification matches where he scored once. He most recently scored during the Football Association of Ireland’s Cup Final, a crucial equalizer on the way to a 3-1 victory and a trophy.
“Mark is a player with a proven track record of repeated success. He is a very direct player with a habit of scoring goals in key moments which makes Mark an incredible asset to our growing Rhode Island FC roster. It is an honor to welcome him to the team,” said Rhode Island FC head coach Khano Smith. “With each player announcement, my excitement for Rhode Island FC’s inaugural season continues to grow. I can’t wait to start working with this incredible group of athletes as we prepare for our inaugural season in 2024.”
With the addition of Doyle, Rhode Island FC’s announced roster reaches five members.
“I am incredibly excited to join the Rhode Island FC roster, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the club’s inaugural season. I look forward to working alongside my teammates and coaching staff to create a team that is ready to compete from our first game and that Rhode Island FC fans will be proud to cheer on” said Doyle.
