Revolution II:
Revs II enters Sunday’s contest following a busy week that saw them walk away with five of six points following a shootout victory over Chicago and a shutout victory over New York City.
Malcolm Fry’s lone goal in the 57th minute propelled Revolution II to a 1-0 shutout victory over NYCFC II in their last contest, as three saves from Nico Campuzano kept NYCF II off the score sheet.
Last week’s results did wonders for the Revs II position on the table as they sit in second place in the Eastern Conference, entering Sunday’s contest with 25 points on an 8-4-2 record with two shootout victories. A Revs II victory and a Crown Legacy FC loss to NYRB II would move Revs II to the top spot in the East.
FC Cincinnati II:
Unlike their MLS counterpart, 2023 has been a rough campaign for Tyrone Marshall and FC Cincinnati II. Cincy enters Sunday’s contest on the heels of a disappointing 4-0 loss to Orlando City B on June 11th.
Cincinnati holds 13 points on the year as they enter with a 3-6-3 record with one shootout win. Despite the poor record, Cincinnati has locked things up when playing at home as they hold a 3-3-0 record at home.
Revs II has to keep an eye on first-teamer Arquímides Ordóñez. Ordóñez enters the match as Cincinnati II’s leading goal scorer with six goals over his three appearances in 2023. They also have to watch for midfielder Ben Stitz, who sits second in Cincy II’s golden boot race with three goals over 11 appearances.
Previous Meetings:
Sunday’s meeting marks the fourth meeting between both sides. Their first came on April 17th, 2022, when Jack Panayotou’s stoppage time goal gave the substitute a brace and Revolution II a 3-2 victory.
Their second meeting came on May 22nd, 2022, when Marcos Dias’ 53rd-minute goal was the only point on the board as Revs II walked away with a 1-0 shutout victory!
Goals came in bunches in their most recent meeting on April 30th, 2023, as both sides put 10 balls into the back of the net, as the game was level at 5-5 come the end of regulation time. Midfielder Ben Awashie buried the ball in the sixth round of the shootout to give Revolution II a 5-4 shootout win and an additional point.
