Revs II Preview: 7/12 vs Crown Legacy FC
Revolution II return to action as they host Eastern Conference leaders CLFC.
Clint Peay and Revolution II will look to extend their unbeaten streak to four games as they return to action Wednesday morning. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday’s matinee.
Opponent: Crown Legacy FC
Venue: Gillette Stadium
Date: Wednesday, July 12th
Time: 11:00 AM ET
Broadcast: MLS Season Pass
Projected Weather: The summer heat will factor into the match as the temp will sit at 86° at kickoff and rise to almost 90° by the end. Thankfully, the humidity will ease throughout the game. Bring sunscreen if you’re heading to Gillette, as the UV index will start at nine and climb to 10 throughout the match.
New England Revolution II:
Revolution II snapped their three-game winless streak on July 9th as a pair of goals from Peyton Miller and Malcolm Fry led Revs II to a 2-0 victory over Inter Miami II.
Miller’s goal marks the Unionville, Connecticut natives first professional tally. Miller is one of many prospects the New England Revolution view highly.
Despite the tremendous accomplishment, Miller took the focus off himself, instead praising fellow Revs Academy prospect Olger Escobar, who made his first professional start. Miller said he’s, “really proud of him (Escobar). I've seen all the work he's put in. He's going to be very successful in his organization, and just needs to keep going.”
Following Sunday’s win, Revs II find themselves in second place in the Eastern Conference with 35 points on a 9-5-4 record with four shootout victories. Wednesday’s game will be pivotal for the Eastern Conference as Crown Legacy sits in first in the East. While a win would not catapult Revs II to first place, it would shrink the gap between the Eastern Conference’s top teams.
Crown Legacy FC:
It has been an immaculate inaugural season for José Tavares and Crown Legacy FC. Through their first 17 matches, CLFC holds a 12-2-3 record with two shootout wins, which puts them atop the Eastern Conference standings with 41 points.
CLFC enters Wednesday’s match with a five-game winning streak, winning four of their last five. CLFC picked up three points at home on July 9th as they secured a 3-1 win over Atlanta United 2.
Despite their immaculate form, it’s worth noting that both of CLFC’s losses in 2023 have come on the road. The first occurred on May 19th against Huntsville, and the latter occurred on June 11th against Columbus Crew 2.
With 37 goals from 14 different goal scorers, Revs II’s defense has to be on high alert on Wednesday. Watch out for Patrick Agyemang, Iuri Tavares, and Vinicius Mello. Agyemang leads CLFC’s Golden Boot race with seven goals over nine appearances with the club. Tavares sits right behind Agymang with six goals over 15 appearances while notching two assists. Mello has five goals to his name while notching three assists over 11 appearances.
