Revolution Trade Tomás Chancalay to Minnesota United
The Argentine midfielder heads to the Western Conference following three seasons in New England.
Tomás Chancalay’s time in New England has come to an end as he joins fellow MLS side Minnesota United in exchange for $100,000.
Following spells with Colon, Racing Club, and Al-Wasi FC, the Viale, Argentina native arrived in New England on loan from Racing on July 13, 2023.
After ending the 2023 season with six goals in 11 appearances, the Revolution completed a permanent move for Chancalay after exercising his $3.1 million purchase option.
2024 saw Chancalay tally two goals and an assist in 12 appearances before undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a partial tear in his right ACL.
Chancalay returned to the pitch on April 12, 2025, and ended his return season with four goals and two assists in 26 appearances.
In a press release, Sporting Director Curt Onalfo thanked the forwars for his time with the club and wished him the best moving forward.
“On behalf of the Revolution, I’d like to thank Tomás for his contributions during his time with our club,” Onalfo said. “We wish him and his family all the best as he begins this next chapter with Minnesota.”
Chancalay’s departure creates flexibility for the Revs entering the new season, as it frees up a valuable designated player spot along with an international roster spot that Mitrovic and the organization can now look to use entering 2026.
The Revolution officially kick off the preseason on January 10 in Foxborough before embarking on a multi-week training camp in Florida later that month.
