Revolution II Sign Maciel and Colby Quiñones
The pair of free agents return to New England ahead of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season!
After a sluggish start to their offseason, New England Revolution II announced their first move as the club signed defender Colby Quiñones and Maciel.
Quiñones returns to Revolution II for a fifth season after his contract with the club expired following the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season. A Revolution II original, Quiñones is the club’s all-time leader in appearances with 75. Over four seasons, Quiñones tallied one goal and two assists over 4,421 minutes.
Free agent Maciel returns for a fourth season with Revs II. The Brazilian midfielder was a consistent presence for Revs II in their USL League One era, as he tallied one assist over 20 appearances and clocked 1,727 minutes.
Maciel became one of the first players to ascend to the first team as he and Jon Bell signed MLS contracts on March 22nd, 2022. Maciel appeared in 38 matches across all competitions in 2021 and 2022.
On October 4th, 2022, as Maciel underwent surgery to repair his left Achilles tendon, an injury he sustained during practice. Maciel spent most of 2023 recovering from the injury but returned late in the season and clocked 77 minutes over three appearances for Revolution II. December 1st saw the Revolution decline the midfielder’s team option, which made him a free agent.
The duo of Maciel and Quiñones join goalkeeper Max Weinstein, defenders Jacob Akanyirige and Victor Souza, midfielders Brandonn Bueno and Patrick Leal, and forwards Jordan Adebayo-Smith, Marcos Dias, and Olger Escobar as the ten players under contract with Revolution II.
