The 21-year-old defender joins Revs II after a stint with Rochester New York FC.
As Revolution II continues their preseason preparation in Sarasota, Florida, another addition has been made to the backline as the club announced the signing of defender Jacob Akanyirige.
Akanyirige joins Revs II after spending 2022 with MLS NEXT Pro’s Rochester New York FC. The 21-year-old defender appeared in eighteen contests for Rochester last season, where he notched one goal and three assists.
A product of the San Jose Earthquakes Academy, Akanyirige has one Major League Soccer appearance under his belt as he logged 69 minutes in a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers on September 16th, 2020.
Jacob Akanyirige has also seen minutes on the international level, as he notched 155 minutes with the US Under-20 National Team in 2020.
Akanyirige’s addition moves the roster to fourteen contracted players ahead of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season.
