Ilay Feingold is ready to make the most of his first call-up to the Israel Men's National Team since 2024.

The defender stood out at the youth level, helping Israel finish second in the 2022 UEFA U-19 European Championship and third at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup before starting all three games at the 2024 Olympics.

He earned his first two senior caps in 2024, playing in the UEFA Nations League group stage. He's excited to return to the national team after a prolonged hiatus.

"I've been waiting for this moment, as you said, since 2024," Feingold told The Blazing Musket. "It's been almost two years. I worked really hard during this time. I think I improved myself.

"I got better during this time, learned a lot from Marko [Mitrovic] and Caleb [Porter]. They both really helped me. I need to be ready for this moment."

Reflecting on why he hasn't received regular invitations to the senior national team, Feingold cited a misunderstanding with the association after he declined a U-21 call-up during his first season with the New England Revolution.

"We fixed everything, but I think they just didn't call me because, like, professional decisions," Feingold said. "I respect that. Now it's my time to prove."

The 22-year-old's versatility could be an asset in the upcoming window, with Israel head coach Ran Ben-Shimon telling him he might play left back, a position he played last year with the Revs.

"I told [the coach] that I will play wherever he will need me: as a side center back in a line of five, right back, left back," Feingold said. "I'm very happy to be back with them. I'll try to do my best to be with the national team."

Feingold has four goals and seven assists in 43 MLS appearances since joining the Revs in 2025. His stellar play earned him the No. 17 spot on the league's 2025 22 Under-22 list.

Teammate Dor Turgeman will also head to Europe to play for Israel. The striker has seven goals and seven assists this season, three of each coming in the last six games.

"This is exactly what I expected from him," Feingold said of Turgeman's recent form. "I think he shows his level right now."

Israel will play Austria (Sept. 24), Ireland (Sept. 27, Oct. 4), and Kosovo (Oct. 1) in the upcoming window, with all games kicking off at 2:45 pm ET.
