Revolution II Record Shutout Win Over FC Naples
Weinstein maintained a clean sheet while the offense found the net twice
Wednesday saw Richie Williams and New England Revolution II take the field as they faced USL League One newcomers FC Naples in two 45-minute halves.
The opening 45 saw Max Weinstein start in goal with Trialist One, Keegan Hughes, Victor Souza, Damario McIntosh, Alex Monis, Javaun Mussenden, Joe Buck, Olger Escobar, Marcos Dias, and Liam Butts in the outfield.
Things got off to a good start for Revolution II when they were awarded a penalty kick. All-time leading goal scorer Marcos Dias stepped to the spot and drilled the ball into the net to give Revs II a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.
The second 45-minute was a very youth-focused session for Revolution II. Max Weinstein returned for the second half while Eli Ackerman, Hesron Barry, Trialist Two, Grant Emerhi, Gevork Diarbian, Judah Siqueira, Levi Katsell, Cristiano Carlos, Ivan Villalobos Lopez, and Jayden Da started in the outfield.
A corner kick from Ivan Villalobos Lopez led Revs II to success in the 58th minute when Jayden Da got onto it and put the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0!
The second half saw two substitutions in the 73rd minute as Sage Kinner and Josh Macedo replaced Hesron Barry and Eli Ackerman.
Revs II’s first public competitive outing of the year was a success as they secured a 2-0 win over FC Naples.
