Revolution Draw Rhode Island FC in U.S. Open Cup Round of 32
The fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup sees the first competitive meeting between the Revs and RIFC!
For the first time since 2023, the New England Revolution will begin its 2025 U.S. Open Cup run as the club prepares to enter the competition in the Round of 32.
The Revs found themselves in the Cobi Jones group with MLS side Chicago Fire and USL Championship sides Rhode Island FC and Detroit City FC. Unfortunately for the Revolution, they were designated as the road team for this round.
Despite being on the road, the Revs will only travel 21 miles down I-95 to face USL Championship side Rhode Island FC at the newly constructed and named Centerville Bank Stadium.
RIFC began their 2025 Open Cup run in the Third Round when they squared off against USL League One newcomer Portland Hearts of Pine. Thanks to back-to-back goals from Clay Holsted and Frank Nodarse in the 34th and 37th minutes, RIFC secured the win on the road to advance to Round 32.
Despite not hosting in the Round of 32, a win over RIFC would secure hosting privileges as the Revs would face the winner between the Chicago Fire and Detroit City.
No official date or time for the Round of 32 meeting between New England and Rhode Island has been announced.
LFG. Please don’t lose to RIFC
