Revolution Defeat Tampa Bay Rowdies In Final Florida Preseason Game
The Revs have one more preseason game left to play.
On Tuesday, the New England Revolution played their final preseason game in Florida, defeating the Tampa Bay Rowdies 1-0.
The Revs used a different starting lineup from the one seen on Saturday.
Here are the listed starters and their substitutes: Donovan Parisian (Aljaz Ivacic 70’); Peyton Miller (Will Sands 61’), Wyatt Omsberg (Brayan Ceballos 70’), Tanner Beason (Mamadou Fofana 70’), Ilay Feingold (Brandon Bye 70’); Andrew Farrell (Alex Monis 57’; Alhassan Yusuf 70’), Eric Klein (Jackson Yueill 70’), Allan Oyirwoth (Carles Gil 70’); Noel Buck (Ignatius Ganago 70’), Jack Panayotou (Luca Langoni 70’), Maxi Urruti (Malcolm Fry 57’; Leo Campana 70’).
The game's lone tally came in the 11th minute when Noel Buck found Peyton Miller, who played a centering ball to Jack Panayotou. The 20-year-old Homegrown put the chance into the back of the net.
The Revolution defense held firm and didn’t concede a shot on target during the second half.
“Overall, I think it’s a good performance out of a lot of young guys,” Porter said. “Really pleased today with Peyton Miller. I thought Ilay looked good, Maxi. Allan and Eric, actually, in the center of the park. Jack finds a goal, and Wyatt continues to be very steady. So, I was really pleased with the performances that we got from all the guys.”
The team leaves Florida with a 3-1-1 record, having defeated St. Louis, Austin, and Tampa Bay 1-0, tied Houston 3-3, and lost to Atlanta 2-0. The game against Houston was 120 minutes.
The Revolution have gotten goals from Omsberg, Yusuf (2), Campana, Marco Dias, and Panayotou.
The club, which features 14 new players, has used preseason to build chemistry. On Saturday, they will have another opportunity to see the field when they host Hartford Athletic.
After that, they will have a week to prepare for the season opener against Nashville SC.
“We made a lot of progress,” Porter said of preseason. “We came together a lot quicker than I thought, and it’ll continue to come together. We still need time. We had guys that arrived late, so we’re still developing that chemistry. But I feel like with Saturday's game and a week of training leading to Nashville, we’ll be in a pretty good spot.”
