Report: Revs and Inter Miami preseason meeting ends in a draw
The Revs battled hard in their preseason opener as they fight back to secure a 2-2 draw.
The New England Revolution took to the field for the first time in 2023 as they opened their preseason with a closed-door friendly against fellow MLS side Inter Miami CF in Sarasota, Florida.
While many were expecting updates from today's game, Inter Miami and New England agreed to conceal the events of today's scrimmage.
Yet thanks to sources close to Miami Total Football’s Franco Panizo and our very own Seth Macomber, some details regarding today’s contest have come to light!
According to sources close to Panizo, Ecuadorian forward Leo Campana notched a brace in the contest. Campana has been a thorn in the Revs side since arriving in Miami on loan in 2022. Many Revs fans will remember April 9th, 2022, when Leo Campana notched a hat trick in a 3-2 Miami victory.
Panizo’s sources also confirmed the Revolution were able to answer both tallies by Campana with goals of their own. A source told Macomber that captain Carles Gil buried a penalty kick while Homegrown Jack Panayotou notched a goal to end Thursday’s contest with a 2-2 draw.
The Revs return to preseason action on Sunday, February 5th, as they take on the Philadelphia Union behind closed doors at noon ET.
