Report: Revolution Hold Mateusz Bogusz's Discovery Rights
Several MLS clubs reportedly interested in the former LAFC midfielder.
A return to Major League Soccer could be in the works for Polish midfielder Mateusz Bogusz, and it could have an impact on the New England Revolution.
According to The Athletic’s Tom Bogert, the Polish midfielder is “likely” to leave Liga MX side Cruz Azul this winter, adding that several MLS clubs are “interested” in the midfielder.
On top of potential interest from MLS clubs, Bogert reports that the New England Revolution holds Bogusz’s Discovery Rights.
With his Discovery Rights, the Revolution will have the first chance to negotiate with Bogusz. If both sides cannot reach a deal, or if the Revs are uninterested in signing Bogusz, New England can trade away his Discovery Rights to a club looking to sign him, which could mean some money may be coming New England’s way.
After starting his career in Poland, Spain, and England, Bogusz made the trek to the United States in March 2023, signing with Los Angeles Football Club. Bogusz’s time with LAFC saw him tally 24 goals and 19 assists over 90 appearances and secure the 2024 U.S. Open Cup.
His time in LA came to an end in January after completing a move to Cruz Azul. Bogusz’s time in Mexico saw him tally three goals and seven assists over 37 appearances and helped Cruz Azul secure the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
It remains unclear if a return to MLS is in the cards for Bogusz, but it’s something for Revs fans to keep an eye on this offseason.
