Report: Caleb Porter Expected to Become New England Revolution Head Coach
The Revs reportedly have their head coach
Caleb Porter is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the New England Revolution according to The Athletic. Our own Seth Macomber was the first to report that Porter was the front-runner to land the job.
Porter’s most recent head coaching stint was with the Columbus Crew where he spent four seasons. The head coach was 45-43-37 while leading the Crew and won the 2020 MLS Cup with the Columbus side.
The 48-year-old’s most successful stint came with the Portland Timbers. He was named Coach of the Year in 2013 – his first season in charge – and won the 2015 MLS Cup.
If named head coach, Porter’s challenge will be to do what hasn’t been done in New England, add an MLS Cup to the club’s trophy cabinet. Considering he has done so at every stop in his coaching career, Revolution fans should be excited even if it seems like a “safe” option.
Well, he has a championship pedigree, so that's hopeful.
On the more pessimistic side, Columbus fans seem to think he ran out of ideas there - which is kind of alarming.
Still, at this point I guess I'm just happy they're hiring SOMEONE, though I was hoping for Bradley, myself.
