Recap: Revs II 1 - Crown Legacy FC 2
Revs II are still looking for their first road win of 2024 after loss to Crown Legacy FC.
Revolution II traveled to Matthews, North Carolina to battle against Crown Legacy FC on Wednesday night, looking to extend their three game winning streak. The team made one change from their win over Chicago Fire II, with Victor Souza returning following his red card suspension.
New England saw themselves down a man in the 42nd minute after a DOGSO challenge from Thiago Suarez saw him shown a straight red, Suarez’s third red card in just eight games.
In the 57th minute Crown Legacy’s captain Phillip Mayaka was shown his second yellow of the match, bringing both teams even at 10 men.
The Revolution made a trio of changes in the 65th minute with Josh Bolma, Malcolm Fry, and Moshtaba Al-Hasnawi replacing Alex Monis, Patrick Leal, and Gevork Diarbian.
Crown Legacy were able to break the deadlock in the 73rd minute thanks to a goal from Aaron John. The hosts doubled their lead in the 78th minute after a strike from Jonathan Nyandjo found the back of the net.
In the 84th minute Revs II had an opportunity to pull one back, being awarded a penalty kick after Bolma was taken down inside the box. Marcos Dias stepped up to take it but saw his attempt saved by the keeper. Bolma was able to get the Revs on the board in the 88th minute, beating the keeper with a strike from near the top of the box.
Despite numerous opportunities to level the match in its closing minutes, New England was unable to convert; giving Crown Legacy their first home win of the season.
Revolution II returns home to Gillette Stadium to take on Philadelphia Union II on Sunday May 19. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM EST.
