PSV Triggers Malik Tillman Purchase Option
The USMNT star is set to remain in the Netherlands through 2028!
USMNT star Malik Tillman is staying in the Netherlands as PSV Eindhoven activated the purchase option on his loan.
The 21-year-old joined the Eredivisie side from Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich in August 2023. Tillman ended the season with an impressive nine goals and 15 assists over 37 appearances during PSV’s run to the 2023/24 Eredivisie title alongside fellow USMNT stars Sergino Dest and Ricardo Pepi.
After PSV activated his purchase option, Tillman inked a deal that sees him remain in the Netherlands through June 2028.
“Malik has more than proved his worth this season. He is a fantastic footballer with an awful lot of qualities,” PSV Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart, who previously served as US Soccer’s Sporting Director, said. “In addition, he has also undergone a great development, as a footballer and as a person. I am very happy that he will be playing for PSV for a long time to come."
Malik Tillman stated he was “very happy” to remain with PSV.
“The first season has been great and I hope we will continue to win a lot of prizes in the coming years,” he said. “That gives me the confidence that I am in the right place here and that I can develop into an even better footballer here.".
Friday’s move comes on the heels of an exciting summer for Tillman, who will look to make Gregg Berhalter’s roster for the upcoming Copa America games in June.
