Olger Escobar Named To Guatemala Squad
The Revolution II forward will look to make his senior debut for Guatemala as they face Jamaica in an international friendly on November 11th!
Revolution II forward Olger Escobar will return to the international stage later this month as the 17-year-old was one of 24 players named to Guatemala's senior national team roster.
Escobar will look to make his senior debut with the national team on November 11th as they travel to Red Bull Arena to face Jamaica in an international friendly. Escobar has previous experience with Guatemala, as he tallied eight goals over 15 appearances with the Under-17 squad.
Thursday’s announcement adds to the incredible calendar year he’s had. After making six appearances with MLS NEXT Pro side New England Revolution II, Escobar became the 12th Revs Academy product to ink a professional deal with Revs II as he signed with the club on July 25th. Escobar ended the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season with one assist over 468 minutes.
2023 also saw Escobar thrive at the MLS NEXT level as he was named the MLS NEXT Under-17 MVP after scoring 15 goals in 17 starts. Escobar’s efforts led to him receiving an invite to the MLS NEXT All-Star Game during All-Star weekend in July.
Despite the Revolution Under-17 squad exiting the MLS NEXT Cup early, Escobar was one of few to ascend to the Under-19 squad and served as a substitute in the U19s run to a second-consecutive MLS NEXT Cup title.
Guatemala and Jamaica kick off their November 11th meeting at 7:00 PM ET.
